Salt Lake City, Utah | Hi Everyone! I've been a long-time lurker, and finally decided I needed to come out of the shadows and join this great forum. Got my black Vision Premium Tourer at the end of July, and had 10,000 miles on it in less than three months. I guess that speaks volumes at how great a bike this is - I just don't want to get off it!
I've been riding for 35 years - all makes and styles - and when a bunch of good friends of mine decided to come over from England to visit and rent Harleys to ride to Sturgis, my wife (who has her own bike) wanted me to get something that was comfortable for the two of us to ride together.
She was a bit intimidated about riding her bike that far and with a bunch of other folks to a place full of crazy bikers filling the lanes. She is a good rider, but hates crowds. Anyway, we checked out the usual suspects: Ultra Classic, Goldwing, BMW 1200LT, and finally Victory: It was no contest in terms of value for money, but I was still a bit unsure of a new, untried model. One test ride sold me!
Yeah, there are the usual growing pains of a new model - I've had my glitches with Darkstar here and there - but they were always minor (never left me stranded) and always were fixed by my excellent dealer.
Thanks for all the useful info on this site! Hopefully I'll have something worthwhile to contribute... |

Winter Haven, FL | Hello all! Wanted to say hi as a new member, I don't own a Vision currently(riding an '07 Hammer) but I test rode one last weekend and LOVE that bike!
I've lurked around here a bit but wanted to join and maybe post some questions when they come up. From what I can tell, you folks appear to be a nice group and there is a LOT of knowledge about Visions that I can gain so I'm looking forward to getting to know you.

Just got a new 08 Vision Tour Premium. Taking the tour pack off because I like the lines better without it. Have not got to ride it yet because of having some of the silver painted black to match the bike.
I have had a number of Harleys, Boss Hoss's and am coming off a Triumph Rocket 111. My wife bought a Kingpin and I liked it so I thought I would go "Victory" for a while.

Sebastopol, CA | I have been looking for a new bike for some time now. Nothing has given my heart the flip flop like the Vision did when I first saw her. Then I demoed one last weekend...the damn thing nearly drove herself through the twisty roads. I am hooked. It is not a matter of if...a matter of when. She will be perfect for my ride to the Arctic Circle next summer. Victory even has a dealer in the Yukon! I was impressed!
Glad I found this website to glean more information about my new ride. Thank you for having it.

We are not quite neighbors, but closer than most any other Vision owner I know of. I bought my Vision from Arlen Ness' place in Pleasanton, live in Scotts Valley near Santa Cruz.

Just registered a few moments ago. I've been reading all of the threads for the past couple of days and I'm really impressed with this site. I've owned several bikes in the past and I currently own a '96 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic. I've been looking at the Visions since they've came out and I've fell in love with them immediately. My problem is that I've gotten older and the touring bikes are looking beter and better, and I can't get my wife to ride with me anymore because she can't take the seat on the Kaw anymore. The only way that I can afford to purchase a Vision is to sell a '68 Camaro that I've owened since '76 and get rid of the Kaw. I'm sitting on a fence and I'm worried that I will regret selling my old musclecar but I just don't drive her anymore because the gas mileage sucks out loud and no a/c! Iguess I just need a little encouragement! Any help? |

Wichita, Kansas | Welcome smokinjoe. I understand your spot. When I met my wife I had a Kawasaki Mean Streak. She refused to ride more than 10 minutes on the stock joke of a seat, so I got a $650 Mustang dual tour seat. That got her up to about an hour ride. Then I traded for a Kawasaki Voyager XII. That got her up to 2 - 3 hours. I got a Vision last fall (Street with a luggage rack and passenger backrest) and she gets off after a 6 hour ride regretting that we had to come home. One ride and you'll forget Maw Kaw ever even made bikes. Take the wife for a ride and she'll probably be back on the road with you.
As for the car, it sounds sweet, but unless you're into garage art, make the trade. I've got a cherry 93 Vette Vert that's my former daily driver, and it just sits in the garage unless it's raining or snowing when I leave. I can ride home wet but spending a day at work wet just doesn't work for me. If it comes down to it, I'll get a Taurus before I get rid of the Vision. My biggest dilemma now is how to get a new Vision Tour before I retire in a couple of years. The Vette is on thin ice!
As for the forum, this is the most helpful, least flaming of all the Vision forums. Go back and skim through the general and tech forums from the beginning and I think you'll be impressed.
And there are quite a few regulars here that live on the central East coast will help you put miles on it!!!! Go for it. As P. J. O'Rourke says, don't just sit there waiting to see which kind of cancer is going to take you out. |
